Meet Norma Washington, MPsy
Where psychology and Scripture meet real life.
For more than three decades, I have walked alongside women who kept showing up even when life did not unfold the way they expected.
Women whose faith was still intact, whose responsibilities were still being handled, and who looked perfectly functional from the outside, but knew something inside had changed.
I understand that encouragement has its place. So does prayer. But sometimes what you need is language for what happened, an understanding of how it affected you, and clarity about how to move forward.
That understanding became the foundation for my work and eventually, the Make Sense Method™.
I kept seeing the same question underneath different stories.
The circumstances were different. A marriage changed. A relationship ended. A prayer was not answered the way someone expected. A career shifted. Children grew up. A role that once defined her no longer fit.
But underneath those experiences was often the same question:
"What happened to me?"
I created the Make Sense Method™ for the woman who does not necessarily need someone to tell her to try harder, think positively, or have more faith. She needs an opportunity to understand what changed and what that change has meant for the woman she has become.
Through three phases, Recognize, Rebuild, and Realign, the Method provides a framework for identifying what shifted, understanding the patterns connected to it, and moving forward with greater clarity and intention.
WHY I CREATED THE MAKE SENSE METHOD™
MY BACKGROUND
Psychology, faith, and more than three decades of working with women.
I am Norma Washington, MPsy, an author, speaker, pastor, and creator of the Make Sense Method™.
My academic background includes a master's degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and I am currently completing doctoral studies in Developmental Psychology. My work has deepened my interest in how people understand themselves, navigate change, develop patterns of coping, and make meaning from experiences that did not unfold as expected.
Beyond the academic work, I have spent decades hosting women's empowerment workshops and conferences, speaking at women's ministry events and faith gatherings across the country, and writing women's fiction that explores the interior lives of women navigating change. That work has deepened my understanding of what women carry quietly and what they need to move forward honestly.
My work is also informed by decades of ministry and community leadership. Scripture is not an accessory to my work, nor do I use it to dismiss difficult human experiences. I believe faith and psychological understanding can exist in the same conversation.
At Washington Wellness Practice, that comes together in a psychology practice with a scriptural foundation, built for women navigating seasons that did not go as planned.

You don't have to pretend nothing changed.
I believe there are seasons when the most important thing you can do is stop trying to get back to who you were and begin understanding who you are now.
You can love God and still have questions.
You can be grateful and still acknowledge disappointment.
You can be functioning and still know something does not feel right.
And you can move forward without pretending the experience did not change you.
You don't have to have everything figured out. But you can begin making sense of it.
